Below is a step by step guide on how to configure Windows 95 to use vwe DIAL with Windows Dial Up Networking. If you are not using Windows 95 click on Windows NT4, Windows 98, Windows 2000 or MacOS 8.5+ for the correct instructions. This guide includes screen shots to help you through each step of the process.
Simply click on 'Show Me'*

- On your desktop double-click My Computer - Show Me
- Double-click Dial-Up Networking - Show Me
- Double-click Make new connection & start the Connection Wizard - Show Me

- In Type a name for the computer you are dialing put - vwe internet
- The Select a modem field should show your installed modem. If not, select it from the drop down menu.
- Click Next - Show Me

- In Area Code type - 0845
- In Telephone number type - 6389895
- From the Country code drop down menu select United Kingdom (44)
- Click Next - Show Me
- Click Finish to close the wizard. - Show Me
A new icon called vwe internet has now appeared in your Dial-Up Networking window.
- Right-click on the vwe internet icon and select Properties - Show Me
- When the vwe internet window appears, click Server Types - Show Me

- From the Type of Dial-Up Sever drop down menu, select PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet.
- Tick Log on to network
- Tick Enable software compression
- Clear Require encrypted password
- Clear NetBEUI
- Clear IPX/SPX compatible
- Tick TCP/IP - Show Me
- Click TCP/IP Settings - Show Me

- Select Server assigned IP address
- Select Server assigned name server addresses
- Tick Use IP header compression
- Tick Use default gateway on remote network
- Then Click OK - Show Me
- Click Scripting - Show Me

- Clear File name
- Tick Start terminal screen minimized
- Click OK - Show Me
Your vwe DIAL Dynamic IP connection setup is now complete and ready for use.
At this point you may want to put a shortcut to vwe internet on your desktop for easy future access to the internet.
Simply right-click and drag the vwe internet icon to your desktop and choose create shortcut here from the menu when you release the mouse.
You now have a shortcut to vwe internet on your desktop.
- To use vwe DIAL Dynamic IP, and have Windows remember your username and password, simply double-click the shortcut we just created above, and make one successful connection to vwe internet - Show Me

- In User name type your vwe DIAL username.
- In Password type your vwe DIAL password.
- If you want Windows to remember your username and password for future connections, tick Save password. If, for security reasons, you choose not to save your password, you will be prompted for these details each time you try to connect.
- Click Connect - Show Me
*Attention Netscape Users: It has been reported that when browsing this page with Netscape Navigator, the "Show me" images sometimes don't pop up when clicked. Navigator seems to get upset if a pop up window gets closed by anything other than this page. i.e. manually by clicking 'x' or Close. Although it's probably not the best fix in the world, refreshing this page and then re-clicking a "Show me" seems to cure it. This curious problem does not affect Internet Explorer users in any way. A bug report has been submitted to Netscape Communications.
